Fused Applique
Techniques
My first quilting
class was on fused applique. Ever since that day, I've loved making applique quilts. The
published patterns I designed, all have applique designs on them.
The Quilt
Technique Challenge I gave myself in 2010, did have some appliqued projects; however, that challenge was to
mainly get myself to try other techniques that I may have been afraid to try or ones that needed more
exploration.
Favorites for applique for me, are:
♥ lite Steam-a-seam 2
fusible web,
♥ buttonhole stitch to
attach applique pieces to the quilt blocks.
The turned-under technique is one that I cannot
get myself to do. It brings nothing but frustration to me, and that isn't what quilting should be all about.
But, since there's a variety in applique types, shouldn't everyone be able to find one that they can
enjoy.
