Tips &
Tricks...
About Fabric:
1.
Use Avery labels and print out a complete page
with "PRESHRUNK" typed on each label. Attach one to each of your prewashed fabrics.
If you wish, you may add the name of the shop where the fabric was
purchased.
2.
Cut a fabric sample from all your fabrics to
compile a record of your fabric stash. On your page where you attach the samples, include
checkboxes to indicate other details, such as: (IE. where fabric will be located, if
pieces are large, FQ size, or scraps and when used up.)
3.
Keep a fabric diary. A great way to remember all your fabric colors. It is also
a great tool to take with you to the store for fabric
matching.
4.
When bringing home new
fabrics, put them together in a container or bag with a note saying where you bought them. Then
add this information to the preshrunk label after washing. (IE. Jane's Shop)
5.
Have a digital
camera? Lay out the fabrics, write on a piece of paper where you got the fabrics and
take a picture of both together.
6.
Use
a recycled jar with lid, to put in fabric scraps as you cut out your quilt pieces. After the
fabrics are put away you'll still be able to cut samples of the current quilt project. This way
you have a record of the fabrics used in the project. Cut your samples
1"x3".
7.
Make a
scrapbook page later! With your precut fabric samples, you can later bring them out and
proceed with the creation of a great scrapbook page.
8.
When
deciding on fabrics for a new quilt project, try and stick with using fabrics in your
stash. You'll surprise yourself! It is possible...
