Going Scrappy

After working on applique quilts and trying many others in my own quilt challenge, it was time to try something that I haven't done before.  Getting tired of running out of fusible web and still wishing to use what I had, I decided it was time to explore the world of scrappy quilts.

After a fun search online, I found some great scrappy techniques that got me inspired. I ordered the book, "Cutting Your Scraps", and while I waited for its arrival, found another great site, "Quiltville.com" to try out some free patterns.

Then, it was time to start cutting up my scraps.  Pieces that didn't work for strings, I cut into squares. One of my favorite quilty things to do is cutting fabric.

There are many great ways to use up those scrap fabric pieces. So, why not explore and see what patterns would get you creating scrappy quilts, too. Free patterns are a great way to try a quilt project, while you decide if that is an area you would love to explore, further. Then, you can borrow from a library or buy your own books for more fun.

Here are examples of the scrappy quilts tops that I have made in 2011. Wish to see more, then visit the links to my blog that showcase these quilts.
